I’ll bet most people haven’t heard the term “abrash” and would never imagine it refers to a beautiful technique for creating custom rugs! Thanks to our custom rug guru, Julie Dasher in Minnesota/North Carolina

I’ll bet most people haven’t heard the term “abrash” and would never imagine it refers to a beautiful technique for creating custom rugs! Thanks to our custom rug guru, Julie Dasher in Minnesota/North Carolina http://www.juliedasherrugs.com/,I have some photos of a client’s abrash rug in-progress at Julie’s workshop in Nepal so you can see what it’s all about.Photo Courtesy of Julie Dasher

Abrash refers to the subtle striation created by yarns that are dyed in multiple colors which are fairly close in tone. It is a meticulous hand-knotted process which produces a rich, textural pattern that can stand by itself or provide the backdrop for a larger pattern.

For this rug our client wanted only the abrash pattern, and we love the way it turned out! But we think the patterned abrash rugs are stunning too.

The timeless look of abrash rugs and exquisite workmanship make them lasting treasures for your home.
