What A Shopping Trip!

Talk about a dream come true – I’ve been “shopping” for our Lake Forest Showhouse “Fashion Writer’s Retreat” with four of the city’s top fashion designers, and what a blast!

Each of the designers is contributing pieces that will make our room something extra special for the thousands of people who are expected to stop by for a tour between April 25 and May 17.

For this year’s event we are turning our space into a sophisticated home office for a fictional fashion writer. In this imaginary world designers send her their latest pieces to display in her office, hoping for a rave review in her make ‘em or break ‘em blog.

Custom purse designer Diego Rocha is creating five all-new designs for the “Fashion Writer’s Retreat,” including an across-body style for the city gal running errands and a big tote for the working woman with a lot to carry.

Bespoke shoe designer James Sommerfeldt told me he is working on new designs too, including a smashing pair of pale pink high heels.

Fashion designers Maria Pinto and Azeeza Kahn are pulling fabulous pieces from their fresh spring collections.

Imagine how these pieces will look against our elegant black-and-white space – we just installed a gorgeous “bubble” chandelier and floor-to-ceiling mirrors suspended from the ceiling. Dazzling!

My only problem: trying not to max out my credit card!
