Home Transformation

Updates for a Newly Empty Nest

Design No. 14285

After raising three sons in this gracious suburban home, these clients asked us to create an elegant, grown-up look for their empty nest. We started with a sophisticated palette of grays, whites, butterscotch, charcoal and ivory and added mixed metal accents.  Two dining spaces and living areas were given distinct personalities, one more formal, the other casual. A year later, they gave us free rein to create a stunning new master bath, and we delivered a shimmering retreat punctuated with shades of gray.  A dramatic, dropped ceiling frames a chandelier composed of glass “bubbles.”  The overall transformation provided a newly elegant yet comfortable lifestyle.

We had a vision of how we wanted our home to look, but we did not have the confidence to make it happen. Susan listened to our thoughts and ideas and stretched my design concepts, taking me away from the very safe and expected traditional design to transitional. The zebra rug under my kitchen table is one risk she helped me take; it is stunning.
