We’re always happy to share our passion for furnishings, fabrics and floor plans with the next generation of designers, so it was a pleasure earlier this month to host several design students from Vernon Hills High School and their teacher, Kristin Johnson.

Senior designer Angela LaVista served as tour guide taking the girls from department to department so they could get a feel for the design process from start to finish.  She stopped off in the heart of the studio, our “library” of samples and catalogs, and showed them some design boards from past projects and fabric samples for current clients.

Jennifer Cioni Tarello, our senior architectural associate, demonstrated how she creates architectural schematics with AutoCad and senior designer Beth Kweton talked to the students about floor plans and furnishings selections while Lauren Benditzky, our junior designer, explained project management. We loved the comments from the girls afterwards: “It was amazing to see how much detail there is to think about when designing a room,” Daisey “There is so much work behind the scenes that does not relate solely to design.” Hiba “I loved seeing all their projects and how they work together on each one.” Leah

We hope we inspired all of you to continue pursuing interior design. Stay in touch, girls!
