How to Create Positive Energy in Your Home

July 10, 2018

Your home should be a haven and a respite away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Here are a few ways you can be sure to fill it with positive energy.

As my friend Jillian Maas Backman always says, “everyone is buzzing with energy all the time – and as you go about your day to day life, you collect all sorts of energy, positive and negative, from the people around you.”

At the end of every day, you bring all your energy home, and while most if it is positive, some can negatively impact mental and emotional health. So, how do you turn your home into a haven of healthy energy?

Fill your home with love – both people and items!

Your home is your sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the chaotic world we live in. It should provide a safe space and be an atmosphere where you can just be yourself. Create a home that exudes your personality by filling it with pieces that are important to you, evoke a memory or simply call your name. Whether it’s an heirloom with sentimental value or a new item that you fell in love with, if it makes you feel good, it belongs in your space.

Compartmentalize your day.

The best way to create positive energy in your home is to leave your negativity at the door. While it can be hard to compartmentalize your thoughts, it’s important to give yourself clarity. Release the stress of the day and start fresh at home. I try and meditate, read a book or have a glass of bubbly. Most important, I leave my cell phone in another room.

Get plenty of fresh air and sunshine.

It may sound overly-simple, but the best remedies always are. Open a window for some fresh air and sunlight to help banish stagnant energy and invigorate and refresh your home.
