Thanks so much to Daily Herald writer Steve Zalusky and Lake County News-Sun writer Sheryl Devore for their excellent articles and photos in today’s papers of the "big reveal" at our “George to the Rescue” project in Waukegan.
Thanks somuch to Daily Herald writer Steve Zalusky and Lake County News-Sun writerSheryl Devore for their excellent articles and photos in today’s papers of the"big reveal" at our "George to the Rescue" project in Waukegan.
They reallycaptured the spirit of this worthwhile project for a Waukegan artist and fatherof twins whose home needed updating and repairs.
Many friends, family and neighbors stoppedby yesterday afternoon to help us celebrate the end of a project that tookmonths of planning and several weeks of filming, and involved many localservice providers, including Bryan Davis at North Shore Home Improvements inLibertyville. The house was brimming with excitement as everyone touredthe rooms, chatted with homeowner Drew Davis and his kids and petted theirenormous mastiff, Hendrix.
Thanks toeveryone who took time to stop by and offer their congratulations. Georgegave me the nickname "task master" during filming because of my tendency toorganize everyone! But, one look at Drew during the big reveal and I became a"puddle" as I knew we had really made his dream come true.
I want togive special credit to our associate designer Lauren Benditzky, whose time andtalent were invaluable on this project, from furniture selections to schedulingand organizing.
Lauren toldme: "Seeing the reaction of Drew and his kids made all the hard work 100percent worth it. The home will function so much better for the family and willhopefully be a place where Drew can further launch his dream of becoming afull-time artist."
Look forDrew, Amy and George on the "Meredith Vieira Show" Tuesday, April 28, at 1 p.m.on WMAQ-Channel 5, and tune in to "George to the Rescue" on WMAQ at 11:30p.m. Sunday, May 3 to see George and me in action!
