Don’t Forget The Floor Lamps!

Sofas, tables and chairs tend to hog all the attention when people think about updating a room, but floor lamps can be just as instrumental in creating a warm, welcoming environment. We think of them as accessories as much as practical lighting, and we often use them in pairs – flanking a sofa or fireplace – but not always. Sometimes a single floor lamp next to a comfortable reading chair is just right for a cozy corner. They work well in place of another end table or occasional piece, too.On the practical side, we always consider the height and placement of the lamp so you aren’t looking up and under it. We think also about the size and shape of the shade, the column and base and the quality of light.
