Cerulean blue is a bold, eye catching color that can add a punch of life into any space. So what exactly is cerulean blue? We describe it as being similar to azure, cobalt, and cyan. It is rich, saturated, and striking so it’s so wonder it’s been trending! The word 'cerulean' is probably derived from the Latin word caeruleus, "dark blue, blue or blue-green", which in turn probably derives from caelulum, meaning "heaven or sky".

This deep rich blue with a glossy finish have recently been popping up everywhere. Frequently paired with white for a contemporary twist on a classic, cerulean can give an updated and unexpected flair to your home.

If you’re not sure if a huge amount of blue will work for you, try adding some art, a rug, or accessories for a little splash here and there. If you’re feeling brave, try a wall or a large furniture piece like a chest to really inject Cerulean as the focal point of any space.

Remember the scene in The Devil Wears Prada when Miranda, tyrant fashion magazine editor (played by Meryl Streep) lectures her not-so-fashionable assistant, Andy (played by Anne Hathaway) on the importance of the cerulean blue color of a sweater? Well we’re right there will ya, Meryl…we think cerulean is just as impactful as your character does!
