A Dozen Things Every Woman Needs at Home

October 9, 2014

I thought it was time for a little "girl" fun, so I asked the Sweet Peas Design team and some Female Friends of Sweet Peas Design (FFSPD) what their must-haves are at home.

I thought it was time for a little "girl" fun, so I asked the Sweet Peas Design team and some Female Friends of Sweet Peas Design (FFSPD)  what their must-haves are at home. Here’s the run-down:

Beth Kweton, senior designer: Great sheets and pillowcases. Splurge! My favorite pillowcases are the ones that have been dried by Mother Nature. Mmmmmm….

Also…a woven basket, decorative box or drawer where you can tuck away your miscellaneous clutter: keys, mail, papers. Eliminate piles!

Jennifer Tarello, architectural associate: Good lighting from a “fun” fixture. It will always be a conversation piece.

Also…a soft, warm throw blanket always in reach. Perfect for those cooler evenings.

Rebecca Snow, junior designer: Anything in your favorite color.  It is guaranteed to make you happy because…it’s already your favorite!

Lauren Benditzky, junior designer: A family heirloom. Mine is a lamp given to me by my grandmother – Lucite and brass base with a white linen shade. So contemporary and current but it’s almost 60 years old!

Laura Bianchi, public relations: Special mementoes from memorable vacations, like the woven plate made by Papago Indians I purchased at Trail Ridge Summit, (Alt. 12,000 feet) in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Jo Buxbaum, FFSPD (friend of Sweet Peas Design) Ooh… a super-deep soaking tub in a bathroom with dim-able lighting and a sound system, but most importantly a door that doesn't transmit knocking or calling from spouses and children!

Sally Sigan, FFSPD: Squishy pillows.

Chrissy Bianchi, FFSPD: Soft lighting around the bathroom mirror . Nobody wants bright surgeon’s lights highlighting every wrinkle/pimple.

Susan: A secret place to stash my good chocolates.

Also….Fresh flowers and a pad of paper and a pen next to the bed for writing down inspiration thoughts when sleep is elusive.
